Sweet Seeds started in October 2009. Through the virtual social goods initiative, players purchase sweet seeds in FarmVille. Fifty percent of sales from the limited edition virtual items go towards our nonprofit partner FATEM to build a school in Haiti.
Donations from past Sweet Seeds campaigns supported FATEM to provide school lunches for children in Haiti and to Fonkoze, org, which gives microloans to Haitian women living in poverty.

In the inaugural Sweet Seeds for Haiti campaign that ran for a week in FarmVille, players raised $584,000 with the purchase of sweet potato seeds. The money was used to help rebuild a kitchen at the Mitsraim Nivard K-12 school in Mirebalais, Haiti and provide snacks and lunches to more than 200 local children.
The popularity of the first Sweet Seeds program led to a follow-up campaign in which FarmVille players raised more than $250,000. The Sweet Seeds program benefits two Haiti nonprofits, FATEM and Fonkoze, which support health and education for children and contribute to a revolving loan campaign for women living in poverty.
Zynga.org is teaming with FATEM to build a K-12 school in Mirebalais, Haiti. Contributions from FarmVille farmers will go towards the construction of L’Ecole du Choix, also known as the School of Choice.
